so on
monday one of my kids blew in like a thundercloud 15 minutes late. he grabbed his paper off another student's desk during a peer editing session. he whacked his seatmate for making a slightly annoying comment. when i corrected him, he ran out the door, slammed it with all his might, and took off down the hallway. another teacher took him to the principal's office but when he came back he refused to talk and wouldn't tell me a thing about why he was acting so weird. i wrote a note to his dad asking him to call or email me, but didn't get any response.
(also on monday my student didn't show up for what was supposed to be her last day. apparently they moved to montana a little early...)
tuesday two third grade boys knocked on my classroom door to tell me that one of my boys had tried to put their heads in the toilet. my student got called to the principal's office and suspended for two days.
yesterday morning we had a two hour delay. 7 of my 20 students didn't show up. there goes my lesson on fractions. there goes moving forward in our story. there goes prep for the PSSA. today i got multiple letters from parents asking me to excuse their child due to inclement weather. seriously?! you all live within 2 miles of the school building!!
(while i definitely think my posts about teaching would be far more interesting to others if they included photos, it's probably not kosher with my school to put the kids on the internet without parental permission. darn.)
