saturday morning baking

we usually eat something different than cereal/english muffins on saturday mornings. all week i've been wanting to make these blueberry muffins, but couldn't find frozen blueberries on monday.

fortunately, i had time yesterday to make a quick grocery run and they had re-stocked the frozen blueberries. i made the muffins this morning & they are AMAZING!

now we're messing around on our computers and soaking up the sunshine through the curtains. hopefully this afternoon we'll hit up the fairmount park trail for a walk/run... it's basically spring today!

(p.s. gotta add another pic because there are sooooooooo many good ones)

4 minute post

yesterday and today were far better than monday. i had a couple of heart warming moments with some of my little rugrats. we're getting ready for HUGE state tests the next two weeks. grades and report card comments are due on friday. my friend lynz is coming tomorrow.

we have fun weekend plans including our first ever mardi gras party. i went running with melissa this afternoon (so much better than running alone). today marks the longest i've gone without seeing my husband (6:30am till 10:30pm... LONG day). isn't this photo great?

the official photos

two weeks ago we got the wedding pics from our photographer. they are incredible!!! i blogged about them here.

my terrible, horrible, no-good day

oh my goodness. yesterday was the worst day of my teaching career thus far. too many horrors to explain the whole day, but here are a few tidbits:

1. a student came to school sobbing b/c she hadn't slept the entire night before. even after sleeping most of the morning in the nurse's office, she cried again later out of exhaustion.
2. someone had a spilled snack in their backpack. ants took over an entire wall of the classroom. city kids cannot handle ants. they were seriously freaking out. drove me nuts. i yelled multiple times at their hysterical behavior.
3. my exhausted student cried (again) as we left at 3pm because someone had "made fun" of her project. the day before. and apparently she'd just remembered. holy cow.
4. a student STOLE a toy that i'd confiscated from another student. it was on my desk and just before we went home, someone took it off my desk. and wouldn't confess. and now it's gone.

i cried and cried. and vented (loudly) to my darling husband. and baked cookies/ watched tv most of the night. and woke up thinking about it this morning.

my millionth snow day

this morning J. asked me what i would do with my "snow" day today. i ran through a long list of ideas and his final comment was, "are you going to shower?" HA!

anyway, here's what i actually did:
organized a shoe hanger in the guest room closet to hold games, sports equipment, and... a sleeping bag?!
made a TON of mini posters to hang on my classroom wall.
ironed a katrillion shirts. even though it's unofficially J's job (b/c i'm terrible!) to iron, i decided it would be a nice way to help him out since he had to work today.
re-soaked my crock pot which is still covered in last night's curry. next step: actually wash it out!
and spent way too much time reading every.single.post of this darling blog.

annapolis: food & photos

so here's a play-by-play...
we saw tons of gorgeous homes and realized we would both be fine w/ living in annapolis some day.
i kept noticing shadows in the brilliant sun.
the local hook & ladder had a cutie table out front?!?!
we took a tour of the state house.
we ate bagels, breakfast sandwiches, and coffee here. yum!
we had a late late dinner here.
i begged joel to take a photo w/ me in a store window. but only once :)
we walked and walked some more.
we had breakfast at the famous chick & ruth's. though our food wasn't all that delicious, the ambience was great & it's an annapolis classic.

annapolis: a few details

we had an amazing weekend in annapolis! oh golly it was beautiful. perfect. wonderful.

here's where we stayed. i highly recommend the state house inn. it's in a perfect location. our room was cozy and quiet. the bed was super comfortable. it had everything we needed. plus, we got discount parking!
here's what we did: toured the naval academy. visited the MD state house (which just happened to be 10 feet from our inn). walked by the water. ate a lot (more on that later). took pictures. read a lot. talked. held hands. went to the MD federation of art (also 10 feet from our inn!). laughed.
