this weekend i...

 ... attended the wedding of two friends. (see above.)

 our names were written on windows. awesome.

 while we waited for the wedding party to arrive, there were fun photo booth props.

 plus, i had a handsome date to snuggle/chat with...

 the trees were blooming & looked gorgeous.

 every guest got a mustache on a stick favor.

 the newlyweds left under a rainbow of sparklers. 

it was joel's first time using them! unbelievable!

i just decided

to grow my hair as long as this lady's.

it's adorable. and her blog is fun, too!

this weekend i...

i'm going to try a regular "this weekend i..." post. 

on sunday or monday i'll update with things from the weekend & hopefully a picture or two. 

 so, here we go:

 this weekend we helped out w/ games at a birthday/going away bash.

 hosted a bachelorette party which started with BYOC (build your own calzones!)

 and ended with deliciousness at max brenner chocolate downtown.

 i watched while joel stained our new doors

 and painted this once-very-ugly lamp. which actually looks better without the too-huge shade. darn.

 i also admired the neighbor's blossoming tree

 and baked these cookie bars. yum.

fun things lately

 a couple times lately joel & i have snuggled in our bed to watch hulu. once it was so chilly he needed to wear his new beanie from chile. ha.

 often on fridays when joel gets home after a run, i sit on the bathroom counter and talk to him while he showers. last friday i decided to snap a few photos while i waited.

 we got new doors, y'all! ours were seriously awful (totally hollow!) and these new ones look amazing, even without stain.

 and without molding around the outside. ha. (p.s. isn't my new brown office chair snazzy?! i ordered it on a sunday night and it was on the front porch less than 24 hours later. nice job, office max!)

 today, march 13th, we ate dinner outside. with bare legs & flip flops.

 these little guys are popping up thanks to the bulbs joel planted last fall. hooray!

to leesburg & back

this afternoon joel & i returned from our 2nd annual mid-winter getaway. we stayed at zion springs b&b. i can't say enough positive things about this place! if you ever need/want a place to stay in northern virginia, PLEASE go to zion springs!

we ate awesome mexican food, explored the historic town of leesburg, read (mostly this book!), visited the battlefield of Antietem, and visited Joel's college friends. it's kind of disappointing to come home from vacations (even mini ones) but overall we feel refreshed and energized.

 (we played chess while we waited for lunch. i might have been winning.)

i LOVE having unlimited time with joel. being his wife is an honor & a joy <3

1. look at these darling mini-cakes! you can make them using tin cans. awesome!
2. tomorrow joel & i are leaving for our 2nd annual february weekend away. i can't wait.

3. our school just got i Pads & the teachers get to take them home to play (i mean, find educational apps...)
4. i caved and signed up for a twitter account. what convinced me, you ask? our professional development session today talked about the educational connections & resources available via twitter. who woulda thunk? anyway, follow me: @kellalberts

 yesterday we had a game-playing shower for melissa & her joel.

 liz & i worked hard and had a blast planning all the fun

 people played some games.

 the soon-to-be-weds got some recipes and spices.and presents.
