A dining room wall

For a long time I have wanted to change our dining room wall.

It's filled with art we have been given and each piece is precious to us. However, the placement was awkward, too much white space, AND I have been drooling over loads of gallery walls on Pinterest so I really wanted our wall to be more like those.
(before)
So. I received two new prints in the mail and got to work. I tried many different arrangements before was satisfied. Joel brought me a new level because the one we had weighed about 10 pounds and I couldn't hold it while I measured. Finally, I got the set up pretty smooth and we hung the frames.

I like it soooooo much better now... (Pardon the blur/glare, but the layout was my focus!)

he said, she said

Kelly (in a whiny obnoxious voice): But why can't we have a miracle?
Joel: Kell, think about May 2009, when we met. That's something I'd been praying about for a long time. I think that's a pretty big miracle, don't you?

Oh, this man...

(In other words, isn't this picture hilarious?! It's from our church directory. They send you the proof for future use. I can't imagine us using this. Ever. Ha!)

overheard in my classroom

"Mrs. Alberts, you're not old. My mom's 28, too."

Awesome. I'm not old. Your mom had a kid when she was 16.

At the same time I was learning to drive and baby-sitting in my free time.

New wall art!

Joel's parents gave me some Christmas money to spend on Etsy. Last week I purchases this print from this shop, which I know from this blog.

Yesterday the print arrived and I rearranged our dining room wall to accommodate it. Lucky for me, I also got this sweet print as a bonus. LOVE it!!

One thing funny, one thing cute

Notice anything funny about this Wendy's receipt?

When the guy asked me my name for the order, I told him it was Kelly. I cracked up when I noticed what he typed at the bottom!!

Yesterday a little boy in morning care came in with this gem. Isn't his spelling of "ms. kleey" so dang sweet?!

Something I wore

I am not a fashion blogger. Most of the time my clothes are not cute. Most of the time I wish I could justify spending more money on clothes. Then I try stuff on and realize I don't really even like it.

Today I went to Target and the mall (shudder!) in search of a couple new things to make it through the winter and I came home with just two tank tops. But then I saw a cute flannel on this blog and realized I have my own from a few years back that I could wear open to show my new tank.

Plus, the tank matches my earrings perfectly.

Plus, I have a new iPad that takes clear pictures and uploads them almost instantly. Score.
(Now if only I could master looking at the actual camera instead of randomly into space or at the iPad screen...)

one sweet memory

This morning after work, I heard a conversation on the radio. They were talking about "the most annoying Super Bowl party guests" and mentioned those people who have no clue and who ask a million questions.

I was instantly back in our home in Little Rock, with my dad.

He was insistent that I learn at least a little about football before the youth group Super Bowl party. He was sure I'd be embarrassed (because I was utterly clueless!) and wanted to educate me as best he could.

Not sure how he actually educated me, nor whether I actually remember the valuable football lessons after that Sunday.

But the sweet memory stands out today, as I think back on how well my parents parented me. Parented us. Are still parenting us (including Joel!) today.
