tonight i needed to find the phone number for the library so i could ask about requirements for getting a card. [i'm doing something with my night class next week to promote library card registration.] once i got on the library website, i found that "chatting" with a librarian could be quicker than finding the telephone number and calling to ask my questions. in the midst of this process, melissa walks in...m: "what ARE you doing?!"
k: "chatting with a librarian to ask questions about getting a card"
m: "WHAT?! KELL!!! oh my gosh! that's the nerdiest thing i've heard all day"
........ 3 minutes later.....
m: "sam, guess what kelly's doing right now... CHATTING WITH A LIBRARIAN!!"
s: "what's his name? do you have a picture of him?!"
k: "AHHHH haha no! it's not a boy!! haha you guys!!!"

Hahaha that's totally what I'm going to be doing when I'm a librarian! Chatting with adorable girls who need information for their ESL classes! As funny as it is, that's kind of the wave of the future for reference librarians...distance reference!
