bedroom makeover: stage 1

a few weeks ago i realized i really really like the way our guest room looks. as in, i like it a lot more than i like how our bedroom looks... that made me sad for a second. then i decided it was time to get my behind in gear and start adding things to our room so i'd like it more.

we finally hung the window i painted when j. first moved in last summer. i finally purchased a sewing machine and got started making the valances (out of shower curtains!). and today i finally went to get gray thread.

while i was at joanns, i picked up a few small pieces of patterned fabric. i was originally going to frame them with thrift store frames painted the same color, but now i've decided to get some embroidery hoops instead. the round-ness of the hoops appeals to me more than straight lines of frames. i'm SUPER excited now!
