this morning one of my best students, araceli, got to class before the rest. we were chatting about her oldest son who's in 3rd grade. apparently, he's been having some trouble at recess with a naughty girl in his class. he's also struggling with other students who brag about all the nice things they have, and being rich.araceli is trying so hard to teach him the important things in life. she explained to him about keeping away from those bad girls who will get you in trouble even when you aren't doing anything wrong. she also told him about one of their friends who died really young and left behind a 10 year old son. in conclusion, araceli shared this little tidbit of wisdom:
"life is like an xbox game. you have to get through the bad parts to get to the happy parts"
