an awkward situation

remember my post about roberto who seemed like the perfect man when i went back and read what i wrote? he's not. i didn't mean to make it sound that way. um, sorry.

since the day of the picnic, he's called about 24 times. okay maybe 6 times. but still-- 6 is a lot! he leaves funny/awkward messages, usually starting with "hey girl". um, roberto? i'm really not playing hard to get. i'm just not interested.

naturally, a million options have been running through my head on how to deal with things: 1 ignore his calls forever. 2 say straight out that i'm not interested. 3 return his calls cheerfully but do my best to avoid suggestions of hanging out. okay, there are no good options! apparently i'm a wuss; i'd much rather avoid contact than have to say directly that i'm not interested. BUT then my student, patricia, will show up in class next month and think i'm an absolute jerk for blowing off her very kind and charming [but semi-gangster-sounding?!] cousin.

ick. i don't think i've ever been in this kind of awkward situation. can't say i'm enjoying it at all.

but... on a lighter note, i googgled "awkward" and this photo came up! haha!!
