vancouver sneak peak

got home after midnight last night after traveling all day. why is it that the coming home trip is always awful?! even when the vacation was amazing?! anyway- pictures will be posted sometime this evening, along with daily details of vancouver. in the meantime, here's yesterday morning's timetable:

6:02 leave annie's apartment in high spirits: my plane doesn't leave till 7:35 a.m.
6:10 stop at tim horton's for one last ice capp. [yum!]
6:20 get to waterfront station; wait for skytrain
6:31 ride the skytrain to the airport
7:05 arrive at vancouver airport; go to check-in desk; they say to hurry b/c my plane's loading. duh. i know. i've got plenty of time.
7:07 walk around a corner to a gigantic line [who knew you had to go through u.s. customs BEFORE leaving canada?!?!]
7:10 make it through customs at incredible speed because i begged/pleaded/whimpered enough that people let me in front of them
7:11 RUNNNNN through the airport to security
7:12 nice airport lady says "are you on continental to houston?" she lets me in the express lane
7:13 express lane isn't so express because there are three people in wheelchairs ahead of me... oh my goodness.
7:20 getting really really anxious. the guy next to me notices and lets me sneak into his line [so many kind souls in the world!!!]
7:22 my bag goes through the scanner for the 1st time
7:27 my bag goes through the scanner for the 5th time
7:30 they decide to look through my bag. one.item.at.a.time.
7:31-35 the security guy opens my makeup case, dumps all the contents out, looks at my earrings, bobby pins, and tweezers. puts them all back in my bag.one.at.a.time.
7:37 RUNNNNN towards my gate. a continental lady meets me and walkie-talkies my presence to the gate. she says to keep running. haha.
7:38 arrive at my gate. hand over my ticket.walk onto the plane as calmly as possible, avoiding eye contact with passengers who've been waiting.
7:41 sit in my seat, panting like a puppy dog
7:42 the lady next to me, says [in a southern accent no less] "that bad, huh?"

previously mentioned lady also later asks me if i'm a student. when i tell her no, i teach english as a second language, she proceeds to tell me that her daughter is a teacher in north carolina. lots of her students are [whispered] hispanics. haha.
