stolen! again [otra vez]

yesterday i held a baby and almost spoke to him in spanish. isn't is crazy how brains work? i'm used to interacting with mexican babies/kids at work, so i automatically thought in spanish when i wanted to tell the little guy something. bizarre!
_______
Lately I've been...

Reading: See You In a Hundred Years, by logan ward. it's about a young family's decision to live for one year as if it were 1900. they buy a farm in rural virginia, bake fruitcake, use an outhouse, chop wood, drive a wagon, ride one-speed bikes, and bathe in a giant tub outside. the book is really fascinating and real. my favorite part is the lessons they learn about relationships-- in their community, in marriage, in parenting, and in long-distance friendships.

Listening: to my laundry washing/drying. and myself crunching tortilla chips

Watching: nothing. can't remember the last time i watched tv OR a movie. i'd say it's been at least three weeks. i didn't even notice.

Cooking: on saturday i made this awesome beef & cheddar casserole with elbow noodles, pasta sauce, hamburger, and cheddar cheese. YUM. J. ate at least 3 servings.

Wishing: that i got to eat dinner at home more often. or at all.

Thinking: "wow, i have a lot to do today. why the heck am i blogging?"

Craving: Qdoba. what else is new?

Excited About: the house that J. bought yesterday! it blows my mind that my boyfriend owns a house [i'm too young for that!] but it's so so so exciting!

Laughing At: myself for secretly competing with an old guy while swimming laps at the Y this morning.

Annoyed With: the fact that there aren't any jobs falling into my lap

Feeling Bad: that i've got all day to do whatever i need to do while most people are working their tails off.

Grading: tests. my students are taking end-of-the-year listening exams to see if they improved. most are rocking it, but a couple didn't go increase their scores at all!

Loving: my encouraging parents, my good-at-listening friends, & my strong, hilarious, and kind boyfriend [who holds my hand immediately after we have a tricky parallel parking situation where i'm not at all helpful]

Reminiscing About: spring when i first moved to little rock [it was about 10years ago!] & how different it was from central massachusetts...
