my aunts and parents have been doing a fabulous job cleaning out grammy's house!! they threw away/donated 10 ten tons of junk. they collected 104 tires. filled four giant dumpsters with metal, etc. and they've stumbled upon some treasures along the way...
dad let me read some of the letters he's saved from his dad. they're hilarious and heart-felt. these are some of my fav tidbits:
"boone, should not start off the week wasting time on you! however i sorta like you in some sort of way that is hard to explain, so i won't even try" [haha]
"i opened your bank statement on purpose! wanted to find out if you were spending any money for food & i was right, you are not! which distresses me very much! the enclosed check is for food only. buy some, eat it, share it, do anything except live like a pack rat!" [oh, classic daddio. even when he was a college boy <3 ]
monday, feb. 27, 1978:
"sure looking forward to seeing the doll that you're bringing home- be sure and have me all posted on what i can say and not say. will not tell on you any more than i have to" [the doll= my momma~]
