a recent addition

I'm psyched to show off the newest addition to our house:

THE OVEN!

Joel and I have been mulling over the idea of getting a new oven (stove?) for the last couple months, since ours was often taking three times the recommended time to cook. Plus, we had an issue with the stove last year and the guy who did the repair said it was 17+ years old. Zoiks!

We ended up buying from a local appliance store. We were really pleased with their customer service and we liked the idea of buying from a small(ish) business. Plus, it got delivered today when we'd just bought it on Saturday! Fast turn around time.

Sadly, when the guys came to drop it off, they realized that there was a big problem with the hook-up and it couldn't be easily rectified because the whole thing was a code violation. When pressed, the guy said the current code has been code for a long time. (Which further supported the idea that our former oven was ancient!)

Fortunately, we hired those two delivery guys privately to purchase all the necessary parts and do the repair to get it up to code. They went to Lowes, came back in an hour, and installed the gorgeous new oven in a flash.

Welcome, new oven. I already love you!
